The following Safe Response Techniques for Senior Living Staff is designed to educate healthcare providers (HCPs) on recognizing potential safety risks, responding respectfully during tense situations, and supporting safer follow-up through clear reporting and team communication in senior living settings.

What you will learn:

• Purpose of Safe Management Techniques (SMT)

• Differences between behavior support and safety response

• How to notice risk before a situation becomes unsafe

• Safe positioning, clear exit paths, and access to help

• How to reduce crowding, avoid blocking movement, and protect personal space

• When to step back, disengage, or request additional support

• Situations that may require immediate escalation

• How staff can coordinate roles during a team response

• Objective documentation after a safety event

• Reporting, follow-up, near misses, and prevention strategies

Once completed, you will receive a certificate of completion to verify you have finished the training. Course Length: 45 min; CME 0.75.
