Recognizing Rattlesnake Envenomation in Veterinary Patients

The following Recognizing Rattlesnake Envenomation in Veterinary Patients course is designed to educate veterinary team members on recognizing possible rattlesnake exposure, identifying early local and whole-patient changes, understanding triage priorities, reporting patient progression clearly, supporting treatment monitoring, and communicating follow-up guidance according to the veterinary care plan.

What you will learn:

• Recognize common veterinary presentations associated with suspected rattlesnake envenomation. 

• Identify differences between a bite, dry bite, and suspected envenomation. 

• Apply basic triage awareness when a veterinary patient presents after a possible rattlesnake bite. 

• Use factual communication when reporting bite history, patient findings, progression, or treatment response. 

• Recognize patient changes that may indicate local, systemic, coagulation, neurologic, or respiratory concerns. 

• Document bite-related observations, client information, patient changes, treatments, and follow-up according to workplace policy. 

• Integrate patient safety, prevention awareness, and veterinary direction into rattlesnake envenomation response.

Once completed, you will receive a certificate of completion to verify you have finished the training. Course Length: 45 minutes.
