Recognizing and Responding to Crisis Training

The following Recognizing and Responding to Crisis Training is designed to educate healthcare providers (HCPs) on SAMHSA’s 2025 National Guidelines for a Behavioral Health Coordinated System of Crisis Care (BHCSCC) and the essential skills needed to identify and respond effectively to behavioral health crises.

What you will learn:

• Core vision, principles, and goals of the 2025 National Guidelines

• The three essential elements: Someone to Contact, Someone to Respond, and A Safe Place for Help

• Role of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and differences from 911

• Key clinical indicators of crisis and basic risk assessment practices

• De-escalation, trauma-informed communication, and person-centered interviewing

• Functions of mobile crisis teams and crisis stabilization facilities

• Ethical and legal responsibilities in crisis response

Once completed, you will receive a certificate of completion. Course length: 1 hour & 15 minutes; CME: 1.25
