Pathways to Suicide Prevention in Community Settings Training helps healthcare providers learn how to understand suicide through a public-health lens and equips them with practical, community-based strategies to recognize risk, reduce stigma, strengthen protective factors, and connect individuals to timely support.

What You Will Learn:

• Explain suicide as a community-level public-health issue influenced by social, environmental, and systemic factors.

• Identify community risk factors and protective factors that shape suicide vulnerability and resilience across populations.

• Recognize and correct common misconceptions about suicide that contribute to stigma and delayed help-seeking.

• Apply a layered prevention framework (universal, selective, and indicated) to real-world community settings.

• Demonstrate appropriate responses to varying levels of suicide risk, including when and how to escalate care and perform warm handoffs.

• Use trauma-informed, strength-based, and culturally responsive approaches when engaging individuals in distress.
