Mini EMTALA and Patient Intake

The following Mini EMTALA and Patient Intake course is designed to educate healthcare providers (HCP) to provide them with a better understanding of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), how HCP and hospitals can comply with the law, and its significance.

What you will learn:

• EMTALA basics, including who is covered and core duties to screen, stabilize, and transfer safely.

• Responsibilities during patient intake and triage, including “care first, paperwork later” and timely medical screening exams.

• Requirements for stabilization, appropriate transfers, and the legal and ethical consequences of noncompliance.

Once completed, you will receive a certificate of completion to verify you have finished the training. Course Length: 8 minutes.
