The following Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom) and GHS Standard Training is designed to educate healthcare providers (HCP) on the key elements of OSHA's HazCom.
Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:
- Use HazCom/GHS labels and Safety Data Sheets to identify chemical hazards and select appropriate protective measures in healthcare workplaces.
- Respond to chemical exposure incidents by following applicable precautionary statements and emergency response information provided through workplace hazard communication.
What you will learn:
- Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for classification of chemicals
- GHS criteria for recognizing hazardous chemicals
- Format of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Meaning of GHS pictograms
- Proper procedures for handling hazardous chemicals safely
- Communicating chemical hazards to workers
- Appropriate response actions in the event of chemical spills
Once completed, you will receive a certificate of completion to verify your participation in this activity. Course length: 45 minutes; CME: 0.75.
