Bioterrorism Preparedness Training for Healthcare Professionals

The following Bioterrorism Preparedness Training for Healthcare Professionals course is designed to educate healthcare providers (HCP) on the recognition, prevention, and response to bioterrorism events and other public health emergencies. This course provides evidence-based guidance on identifying biological threats, understanding weapons of mass destruction, implementing safety and infection control measures, supporting emergency response efforts, and applying preparedness strategies to protect patients, healthcare teams, and communities.

Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:

• Recognize unusual clinical and epidemiologic patterns that may signal bioterrorism when evaluating patients during suspected outbreaks or mass-casualty events.

• Implement appropriate exposure-control measures, including PPE and decontamination, when managing patients or environments affected by suspected biological hazards.

• Initiate surveillance reporting and emergency response procedures when unusual illness patterns suggest a potential bioterrorism event.
