Preventing Needlesticks and Sharps Injuries

The following Preventing Needlesticks and Sharps Injuries course is designed to educate healthcare providers (HCP) about needlesticks procedure, act and prevention. 

Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:

• Recognize needlestick and sharps injury risks when handling needles or other sharps in healthcare settings.

• Apply appropriate prevention measures to reduce needlestick and sharps injuries in accordance with workplace safety requirements.

What you will learn:

• Basic needle-stick procedures

  • Needle-stick Safety and Prevention Act

• Additional protections

  • Elimination and substitution

  • Engineering controls

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)

Once completed, you will receive a certificate of completion to verify you have finished the training. Course Length: 30 minutes.
