Machine Guarding Essentials

The following Machine Guarding Essentials is designed to educate employees on the core principles of machine guarding, hazard prevention, and workplace safety.

What you will learn:

• Recognize common machine hazards and why proper guarding is necessary to prevent serious injuries.

• Identify hazardous machine motions and areas where employees may be exposed to danger.

• Understand the different types of machine guards and safeguarding methods used to protect workers.

• Explain employee responsibilities and safe work practices when operating or working around machinery.

• Understand the purpose of lockout-tagout procedures and why hazardous energy must be controlled during servicing or maintenance.
